Priority Based Budgeting

Priority-Based Budgeting Launched - Helping Benicia Build a Better Budget!

Lorie Tinfow, City Manager, is happy to announce the completion of the next phase of the Priority-Based Budgeting (PBB) process. Following the City Council's confirmation of five Results, we launched a community survey to define these results:

  1. Protecting Community Health and Safety
  2. Protecting and Enhancing the Environment
  3. Strengthening Economic and Fiscal Conditions
  4. Preserving and Enhancing Infrastructure
  5. Maintain and Enhance a High Quality of Life

Helping Benicia build a better budget, we received citizen input on the priorities that are most important to our community. Citizens learned more about Priority-Based Budgeting (PBB) at two community workshops, presentations made at board & commission meetings, community outreach, and by visiting this webpage, then took our community survey at Benicia Town Hall, which ended Friday, March 30. The Benicia City Council and reviewed the result of citizen input at a special workshop on April 24. We're happy to share the approved results here.

Priority Based Budgeting (PBB) is a leading best practice enabling local governments to reassess their priorities in order to make sound, long-term funding decisions and establishing a results-driven budgeting process. ResourceX is partnering with the City of Benicia to provide solutions to implement a priority based budget for Fiscal Years 2018-2020 and the powerful analytic tools necessary to achieve results for our community.

We thank our community for taking the time to provide input, letting us know what priorities are important to our community.
