Bike to Work Day is May 11th

|

On Thursday May 11, thousands of bicyclists are expected to participate in the 23rd Annual Bike to Work Day Bay Area, part of National Bike Month.  You can be part of the fun throughout Santa Clara County!

Join VTA General Manager and CEO Nuria Fernandez, San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo and Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition Executive Director Shiloh Ballard as they Bike to Work starting from the Martin Luther King, Jr. Library in Downtown San Jose.

Beginning at 7 a.m., take advantage of the energizer station there, listen to a few motivating remarks from our leaders, then set off down the Guadalupe Trail toward North San Jose.

VTA will also host an energizer station at the Great Mall Transit Center in Milpitas from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m.

More than one million Bay Area residents live within five miles of their workplace, an ideal distance for bicycling.  According to the 2013 American Community Survey, over 62,000 Bay Area residents use a bicycle as their primary means of getting to work every day.  Bike to Work Day is the perfect day to try it.

More than 90 Energizer Stations in Santa Clara County and 40 in San Mateo County will give bikers a chance to stop and get a snack, a tote bag, goodies, and tons of encouragement.

Visit vta.org for bike-friendly information and to plan your trip.  Log onto bikesiliconvalley.org to find your closest energizer station
