Applying for Aid

Requirements and Deadlines

To apply for aid, you will need to complete the following required forms:

  • Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) — An online application provided by the U.S. Department of Education
  • Graduate Student Loan Application — Stanford’s online institutional application

Please be careful to complete the correct versions of these forms based on the time period for which you are requesting student loans or Federal Work-Study funding. Use the following charts to find the appropriate versions:

Priority Filing Deadline

Six weeks before the first day of the quarter(s) for which you wish to borrow loans.

You can expect to receive notification of availability of an award letter at your Stanford email address within 6 to 8 weeks of completing all application requirements. You can track your status and award information on Axess.
