The Stem Cell Transplantation and Regenerative Medicine Division in the Department of Pediatrics at Stanford University conducts world class basic, translational, clinical and epidemiological research through collaborative research with Stanford Hospital and Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital.

The need to improve patient care drives research within the Division. As clinicians and researchers we treat patients and see first hand opportunities for advancing patient care.  Our team of physicians who care for patients with a disease, our basic scientists who investigate the condition's molecular basis, our epidemiologists who study its effect on populations and our translational infrastructure all allow us to expedite the translation of our research into novel therapies aimed at improving patient care.  We are developing the next generation of lifesaving treatments for cancers, HIV and many other diseases.  Our experimental therapies range from novel genetic treatments for various diseases including HIV, SCID-X1 and IPEX syndrome to cell based therapies that offer life saving options to patients receiving allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplants.
