Take online courses in the Stanford Genetics and Genomics Certificate to gain fundamental knowledge and a 'big picture' understanding of the cutting-edge fields of genetics, genomics and personalized medicine. Complete two required fundamental courses and four elective courses based on your interests for a deeper emphasis on a spectrum of industry topics.
You may take individual courses of interest within the program or earn the Stanford Genetics and Genomics Certificate by completing 2 core courses and 4 elective courses. Courses may be taken at your own pace online. The foundational courses must be completed in sequence before beginning your electives if you are working towards a certificate. Each course consists of online lecture videos, self-paced exercises, and a final exam. Lecture videos are presented in short segments for easier viewing and frequent self-reflection.
Courses are self-paced. Each core course is approximately 8-12 hours of online lectures and 4-6 hours of exercises; each elective course is approximately 6-8 hours of online lectures and 2-5 hours of exercises. Each course is available for 60 days from the date of enrollment.
You will receive a record of completion (certified PDF) via email upon completion of each course which contains your course history. The PDF is proof of course completion for reimbursement and can be requested at any time, on an as needed basis. Upon successful completion of all requirements, you will earn the Stanford Genetics and Genomics Certificate.
