Independence Day brings good food, cold beer and of course crazy fireworks. Like clockwork, these stands start popping up all over the valley as we get ever closer to July 4th. Are you ready?

Theme Day: Empty
*Gasp* An empty doughnut case! City Daily Photo presents another Theme Day for your enjoyment, this time everything that's "Empty". I couldn't think of anything more jolting than seeing this fine doughnut case sitting empty at Valley IGA! Be sure to visit other "Empty" places around the world at

Emptiness
Remember the post yesterday about beauty? This is not one of those posts! Another vastly empty building sits in the middle of Waterford's "business district". This big, empty place is a part of some new-ish construction that has been started but seems to have stalled. I'm looking forward to it being filled soon. Is your city growing?

Adopt A Road
Do you have anything like this? All over California, there are stretches of highway that have been "adopted" by individuals or organizations. They are responsible for keeping their stretch of road free of litter and debris. For the most part, it works great! Community Baptist maintains this road as you come in to town from the north.

Waterford on the Road: Valley Bowl
Just one last photo from the road. Can you see the mountains in the distance? If I was to give you a panoramic view of the Imperial Valley, this is what you would see in every direction. Fields, fields, smoke and more fields with mountains all around. If you click on the image, you can see great hay bales stacked neatly in the field. I hope you have enjoyed your foray into Southern California, tomorrow we go back to small town life. Have a great week!
