Community Engagement and Diversity
Stanford’s Community Engagement and Diversity unit has been home to 10 centers and offices dedicated to empowering students to lead in a multi-racial, multi-ethnic and pluralistic society. The centers are where undergraduate and graduate students of all backgrounds and identities go to connect, find mentors and cultivate meaningful conversations and initiatives around inclusion and diversity. These opportunities for engagement enrich the Stanford community as a whole.
In addition to the centers, the Diversity and First-Gen Office, the Haas Center for Public Service and Student Activities and Leadership provide vital support to students and others across the university. Staff offer campus-wide diversity training, advise student organizations and provide leadership training and opportunities. They also offer community-engaged learning opportunities and public service internships, fellowships and employment opportunities. Programs and events are designed to ensure that students thrive at Stanford and are empowered to question, debate, examine, understand, empathize and develop into future leaders who can solve some of the world’s most vexing problems. Student-driven programs promote scholarship and research, encourage service and engagement, foster wellness, build cross-cultural competencies and celebrate traditions.
