Essentials in ECG Analysis
This course is designed for the nurse planning to work in a monitored unit and/or the nurse currently working in a monitored unit who wishes to hone ECG skills.
Upon completion, the student will have a working knowledge of the heart and the conduction system.
The nurse will recognize rhythms seen on monitored units, calculate heart rate, place electrodes for monitoring, and identify appropriate interventions.
Program Objectives
- Identify components and function of the conduction system
- Correlate cardiac function, structure and ECG
- Identify electrode placement for three and five lead systems
- Articulate the salient characteristics that distinguish essential arrhythmias
- Differentiate among sinus, atrial, ventricular, heart block, paced rhythms and changes seen in Acute Coronary Syndrome
- Discuss appropriate pharmacologic and mechanical interventions
- Documents used in this program are intended for use by participants only.
