Clerkship/Sub-Internships
Overview
The clerkship in Internal Medicine is an eight-week ward experience designed to expose students to the diagnosis and management of common medical conditions. During this time, students will build a cognitive knowledge base in medicine through a combination of a common curriculum followed at all the hospital sites, along with lectures and seminars. We anticipate students will leave with a sense for the excitement and variety inherent to internal medicine, and the satisfaction that comes from caring for patients in this discipline.

Clerkship Director
Students involved in the eight-week Internal Medicine will be under the direction of Abraham Verghese, MD. Dr. Verghese is Senior Associate Chair, and Professor of the Theory and Practice of Medicine in the Department of Medicine at Stanford University.
