A samoodle is SamCERA’s version of a doodle, and this samoodle was created by SamCERA staff to celebrate the association’s 75th anniversary with a bit of fun and creativity.

COLA Increase for 2020
At its January 28, 2020 meeting, the Board of Retirement approved a cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) for most retirees and beneficiaries.

At its January 28, 2020 meeting, the Board of Retirement approved a cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) for retirees and beneficiaries in accordance with each plan as shown on the chart below:

2020 Service Purchase Schedule
There are two separate periods of time during 2020 to make service purchases.

Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible to purchase service credit that can count toward your total years of service and may increase your retirement benefit.

Purchase Request forms may be submitted for the purchase of Extra Help time, Plan 3 service upgrades, certain military leave and unpaid sick leave. Returning SamCERA members can also make a Purchase Request for a redeposit of withdrawn funds.

Celebrating 75 Years!
On July 9, 2019, the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors presented SamCERA with a resolution in recognition of our 75th anniversary.

SamCERA was founded on July 1, 1944 by the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors, and for the past 75 years, we have remained dedicated to serve as loyal fiduciary for our members and as prudent administrator of the retirement system.

Course Information

Participants will gain a better understanding of the estate planning process. They will learn about an easy three-step process to set up an estate plan. In addition, this course will help simplify the terminology used by the financial planning and legal professions.
