Learn about our efforts to create a compassionate university below and please sign the Stanford Charter for Compassion to reaffirm Stanford’s commitment to a more compassionate learning and living environment.
The Stanford Compassion Project’s Mission
To commit Stanford University to a set of guidelines around compassionate action and intention to better help the university achieve its own mission, and to ensure long-term that Stanford University continues to realign and reshape those guidelines, along with its action, to reflect the basic principles of the Charter for Compassion: Justice, Equity, Peace, Respect, & Empathy.
Our Plan for a Compassionate Campus
The first step of the project is the Charter for Compassion, which is being signed by Stanford students, faculty, staff and affiliates. The second phase is launching a Five-Year Compassionate Action Plan created by stakeholders on campus. The Action Plan will then be reviewed and approved by stakeholders such as President Hennessy, the Undergraduate Senate and more.
