Investigation of the Causes of Disease and Mortality
Approximately 150 autopsies are performed each year at Stanford University Medical Center, and approximately 120 at the Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System (VAPAHCS), all under the close supervision of the faculty. Special interests of the units include genotypic-pathological and physiologic-pathological correlation.
The Autopsy Service at the VAPAHCS has been designated a Clinical Program of Excellence by the Department of Veterans Affairs .
