Independence Day brings good food, cold beer and of course crazy fireworks. Like clockwork, these stands start popping up all over the valley as we get ever closer to July 4th. Are you ready?

Working the farms

A common sight in our agricultural valley. A tractor is dragging a piece of machinery to level the field. A dusty, but necessary business. Do you see things like this in your town?

Through wind and rain...

But apparently not through technical difficulties! Once again, the USPS stamp machine is broken. It spends a great deal of time being broken and I'm not sure why. Maybe the post office will raise the price of stamps again to get it fixed.

Green as grass

I love the colors of early Summer! This is the one time of year that grass is such a rich shade of green. However, it doesn't last long...as the temperatures rise, the grass gets sadder and sadder. Get out and enjoy it while you can!

Emptiness

Remember the post yesterday about beauty? This is not one of those posts! Another vastly empty building sits in the middle of Waterford's "business district". This big, empty place is a part of some new-ish construction that has been started but seems to have stalled. I'm looking forward to it being filled soon. Is your city growing?

Looking skyward

When I fall prey to forgetting there is beauty in the world, I have only to look up. Isn't it pretty?

Arachnophobia

This Big Boy was hanging out right outside the door. I don't like spiders very much. Blech!

Do not adjust your screen

I wonder if a "Smothie" might taste different than an actual "Smoothie". Here at this Raspado Shop, you can get a smoothie with a missing letter!

Adopt A Road

Do you have anything like this? All over California, there are stretches of highway that have been "adopted" by individuals or organizations. They are responsible for keeping their stretch of road free of litter and debris. For the most part, it works great! Community Baptist maintains this road as you come in to town from the north.

Just one last photo from the road. Can you see the mountains in the distance? If I was to give you a panoramic view of the Imperial Valley, this is what you would see in every direction. Fields, fields, smoke and more fields with mountains all around. If you click on the image, you can see great hay bales stacked neatly in the field.
